Fibroids are benign tumours of the uterus. They can vary dramatically in size and some will grow inside the uterus and others from the outer uterine wall. They tend to be more common in women from Asian backgrounds and with advancing age.
Fibroids can lead to heavy periods, pelvic pain, fertility problems and pressure on the bowel and bladder. Depending on your symptoms and family planning, removing the fibroids alone or the entire uterus may be considered.
