Cysts will naturally form on the ovaries throughout the reproductive years. However some may be large, persist or cause pain from pressure effects, rupture or bleeding. While some cysts can be managed without surgery, others, particularly larger or symptomatic cysts will require surgical removal, usually via a laparoscopic approach.
